Women's Club Soccer Qualified to Play NIRSA Divisional League for 2023-2024 Season

Smithfield, RI – Bryant University Women’s Club Soccer has come a long way since the start of the program. The team has a solid foundation with a coach, a full roster, and scheduled games with other university teams.

Bryant Women’s Club Soccer is now qualified to play in the NRISA divisional league for the 2023-2024 season- The National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association. NIRSA serves students who play at the university varsity or club level in athletic sports.

 

Below is a recap of the remaining games the Bulldogs played this fall.

 

Final Scores:

10/23 vs Merrimack College (H)

Bryant University: 4

Merrimack College: 1

 

11/1 vs Northeastern (H)

Bryant University: 1

Northeastern University: 5

 

Game Info:

 

10/23 vs Merrimack

 

Bryant won vs Merrimack 4-1. Their first win since officially forming the team. Captains and founders Miranda Pena and Rebecca Jackvony led the team to victory with their outstanding skill and athleticism. The first goal of the game was scored by #10 Sophia Pou with an exciting free kick that landed in net. #13 Gianna Ferrarese had a hat trick and scored the remaining 3 goals for the Bulldogs. This was not an easy win as the whole team fought hard to secure their victory over Merrimack College.

The team at that time had 5 major injuries. Sophia Pou had a broken knee and was unable to play for the rest of the season. Kaitlyn Asido and Maya Niemyer both had concussions and had to recover for a couple of weeks. Brenna Parcell and Samantha Strain both had back injuries and had to take a few weeks to recover.

 

11/1 vs Northeastern

 

With half the team out, Bryant hosted Northeastern and lost 5-1. The girls fought hard until the last minute of the game. #13 Gianna Ferrarese scored the only goal of the game. This ended up being the last game of the season as the game scheduled for 11/11 vs. Holy Cross was canceled.
