Bryant hosts Marist Saturday night at Beirne Stadium

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team welcomes Marist College to Beirne Stadium on Saturday for the first home night game in program history. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

Series History

  • Saturday will be the third meeting between Bryant and Marist. 
  • The Red Foxes have won both meetings.  
  • The two teams last met in the 2012 opener and Marist scored 28-straight points over the span of the second and third quarters to pull away for a 35-10 victory.  

20th Season of Bryant Football

  • Bryant Athletics is celebrating the "20th Season of Bryant Football" in 2018-19.
  • The Bulldogs began the program in 1998 and played their first varsity season in 1999.

Light up Beirne

  • Prior to Saturday's kickoff, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Bill Conaty and his wife Sue will be on hand to officially turn on the lights at Beirne Stadium. 
  • It will be the first time in the program's 20-year history that they will play a home game under the lights.  

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • The Bulldogs enter Saturday with a 1-1 overall record. Bryant opened the season with a 41-31 victory over New Haven before falling 51-20 to No. 24 Stony Brook last Saturday.  
  • Bryant put up 413 yards of total offense and posted 23 first downs last weekend at Stony Brook.  
  • Senior Brenden Femiano (Northport, N.Y.) posted his first-career 100-yard game last Saturday at Stony Brook. He carried the ball 19 times for 106 yards and is now just 76 away from becoming the seventh player in DI program history to record 1,000 career rushing yards. 
  • Classmate Vincent Nisivoccia (Nutley, N.J.) also had a big weekend at Stony Brook, posting a career-high 186 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. He caught four passes for 61 yards and two scores. 
  • Redshirt senior Price Wilson (Marietta, Ga.) has completed 70 percent of his passes for 514 yards and six touchdowns through the first two games. 
  • Senior Thomas Costigan (Stamford, Conn.) posted 12 tackles last weekend and is now just four shy of 200 in his career. He also added his 21st-career sack, the third-most in program history. 
  • Fifth-year senior Kevin Lazo (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) blocked the eighth kick of his career last weekend at Stony Brook. He has blocked a kick in each of the first two games. 

A bit about the Red Foxes

  • Marist enters Saturday having played just once this year. The Red Foxes opened the season with a loss to Georgetown and had a bye last Saturday. 
  • The Red Foxes are a member of the Pioneer Football League which includes teams like Dayton, Davidson, Stetson and San Diego. 
  • Four Marist players were named preseason All-PFL members, including Buck Buchanan Award watch list member Willie Barrett.  
  • Jim Parady is in his 27th season as head coach at Marist and has 133 career victories. 

Gameday at Beirne Stadium

  • Fans can visit the Bryant Football Gameday page for all their gameday information.
  • Tailgating opens five (5) hours prior to kickoff and is allowed in Lots A and B adjacent to the Bulldog Strength and Conditioning Center.
  • The Bryant Athletics Student Tailgate opens at 3:00 p.m. and is in the front of Lot A.
  • Gates open at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

  • The first 500 fans into Beirne Stadium on Saturday will receive a commemorative rally towel.
