Tom Kennedy to make NFL preseason debut Thursday

DETROIT – Bryant University football and men's lacrosse alumnus Tom Kennedy is slated to make his NFL preseason debut Thursday night when the Detroit Lions host the New England Patriots at Ford Field.

Kennedy, who played four seasons of men's lacrosse and two years of football at Bryant, will be the first Bulldog alum to appear in an NFL preseason game since Jordan Harris played for the then-St. Louis Rams in 2014.

Kennedy played two seasons for the Bryant football team, appearing in 18 games. He had his most productive season on the gridiron in 2017, hauling in 57 catches for 888 yards and nine touchdowns. Kennedy was a first-team All-NEC honoree in 2017 and earned accolades for his efforts in the classroom as a CoSIDA Academic All-District and FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team selection.

Kennedy made 33 catches for 410 yards and a touchdown over seven games as a graduate student in 2018 after missing the first four contests of the season due to injury.

The Farmingdale, New York, native was a three-time All-NEC selection in men's lacrosse with first-team honors in 2017 and 2018. He was drafted by the Boston Cannons in the 2018 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft and appeared in six contests.

Thursday's 7:30 p.m. game will be broadcast throughout New England, including The CW Providence in Rhode Island (Channel 9 on Cox and Verizon FIOS) and WBZ 4 in the Boston area.
