Bryant welcomes Brown to Beirne Stadium Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team welcomes in-state rival Brown to Beirne Stadium on Saturday. Kick off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

Series History

  • Bryant and Brown will be meeting for the fifth time in program history.
  • The Bears hold a 3-1 lead in the all-time series, having won each of the last two meetings.
  • Bryant's lone win in the series came in 2015 at Brown. Torrey Dixon connected with Chad Ward on a go-ahead touchdown and Brandon Dagnesses intercepted a pass in the endzone to seal the victory.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters Saturday at 0-3 on the young season. The Bulldogs fell to Fordham, 29-14, last Saturday.
  • Bryant led 7-6 at half and 14-6 after three quarters but the Rams scored 23 fourth-quarter point to earn the win.
  • Sophomore Daniel Adeboboye (Toronto, Ont.) is averaging 77 yards per game on the ground, having rushed for a career-high 99 yards last week.
  • Senior Vincent Nisivoccia (Nutley, N.J.) currently leads the NEC in receptions per game (7.3) and all-purpose yards per game (135.0).
  • Freshman Anthony Frederick (Hollywood, Fla.) has posted a reception of 30+ yards in each of the first three games. He caught a 38-yard touchdown last week.
  • Senior Tomas Wright (St. Augustine, Fla.) collected a career-high 11 tackles last week and now has 23 career sacks and 30 TFLs.
  • Classmate Jesse Nemerowicz (Hudson, Mass.) enters the week with 249 tackles, tied for fourth in program history.  

A bit about the Bears

  • Brown will be playing its first game of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Bears were 1-9 overall and 0-7 in the Ivy League last season.
  • Former Bryant head coach James Perry is in his first season as the head coach of the Bears.
  • Brown welcomes back its top three receivers and its top running back from a season ago.
  • E.J. Perry, a transfer from Boston College, will be the opening day starter.
