Daly named NEC Co-Rookie of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University football freshman Jack Daly (South Glastonbury, Conn.) was named the Northeast Conference Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday.

Daly made his presence felt during Bryant's Week 13 visit at Wagner. The rookie lineman, who totaled four tackles, made a pair of impactful plays for a defense that blanked Wagner over the final 41:39. With Wagner on the march holding a 10-0 lead, Daly forced a fumble at Bryant's 29-yard line and Eulogio Portugal (Rosedale, N.Y.) recovered to extinguish the late second-quarter threat. The 6-foot-4 freshman struck again late in the fourth quarter after Wagner crossed into Bryant territory. With the Bulldogs protecting a 14-10 edge, Daly batted down a pass attempt on 3rd-and-13 play from the Bryant 48. The Seahawks turned it over on down on the following play and Bryant killed the remaining 1:56 on the clock.

In addition, seniors Richard Ukele (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Robert Brown (Palmetto Bay, Fla.) were named NEC Prime Performers. Ukele posted a sack and returned an interception for a touchdown, while Brown led the Bulldogs with 13 tackles and his first-career sack.
