Bryant Football Special Teams Preview

Special Teams

Positions Coach: John Sielawa

Notes and Notables

  • Sielawa welcomes back All-NEC kicker Luke Samperi and dynamic returner Andre Brackett in 2020.
  • Samperi finished the year 11-of-14 in field goals, tying the single-season program record. He was perfect from inside 40 yards and led all kickers in percentage. Samperi also made 20-of-22 PATs.
  • In his career, Samperi is 12-of-16 in field goals and 51-of-56 in PATs.
  • Samperi currently ranks 5th in school history in field goals and has the chance to become just the second (Chris Bird) to make 20+ in a career.
  • Brackett emerged as one of the NECs top returners last fall, averaging 31.5 yards per return (8 returns). The highlight was a 95-yard return score that opened the game against Long Island.
  • The Black and Gold also return three other players that fielded kicks in 2019 - Hunter Hill, Psaveon Reaves and Anthony Frederick
  • Bryant will have to replace all-league punter Gavin Rowley and long snapper Jimmy Picerelli, however. Rowley posted a program-record 3,110 punting yards last season, an average of 42.0 yards per punt.
  • Ben Myers returns and will fight for the punting role. Incoming freshman Ethan Gettman was a two-time All-Area selection as a kicker at Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida.
