Kennedy signed to Lions' practice squad

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University football and lacrosse alum Tom Kennedy '18 was signed to the practice squad of the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon.

It marks the second-straight year that Kennedy has earned a spot on the Lions' practice squad. Last season, Kennedy made the most of his opportunity and became the first Bulldog to appear in an NFL game when he took the field on September 29 against Kansas City.

Kennedy played two seasons of football for the Black and Gold, posting 90 catches for 1,298 yards and 10 touchdowns. He finished with 13 total touchdowns and 1,392 all-purpose yards. Kennedy's most productive season came in 2017 when he posted 57 catches for 888 yards and nine touchdowns. He was a First Team All-NEC wideout and also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District and FCS ADA Academic All-Star honors.

A three-time All-NEC selection in lacrosse, Kennedy collected 72 goals, 45 assists and 117 points in 67 career games. He is the only player in NEC history to earn first team all-league honors in both football and lacrosse.

Kennedy is also the only athlete to play both in the NFL and in Major League Lacrosse. He was drafted in the third round of the 2018 MLL Draft and appeared in six games with the Boston Cannons.
