Eckhaus named HERO Sports Freshman All-American

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University football freshman quarterback Zevi Eckhaus earned Freshman All-American honors from HERO Sports on Tuesday.

The honor adds to an impressive list of accolades for the rookie out of Culver City, California. He's the third player in DI program history to earn recognition from HERO Sports, joining Andre Brackett and Jesse Nemerowicz.

Eckhaus engineered one of the greatest seasons for a quarterback in program history, throwing for 2,392 yards, 21 touchdowns and just three interceptions. He added 242 rushing yards and two TDs, finishing the year with 2,634 yards of total offense and 23 total touchdowns. Eckhaus posted four 300-yard passing games and threw multiple TD passes in each of the final eight games of the year. For his efforts, Eckhaus was named the NEC Offensive Rookie of the Year, All-NEC First Team and finished fourth in the FCS Jerry Rice Award voting.
