Bryant, Brown square off Saturday in Providence

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team makes the short trip to Providence on Saturday to face in-state rival Brown at Brown Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. on ESPN+.

Series History

  • Bryant and Brown are meeting for the seventh time in program history. The Bears hold a 4-2 lead in the series. 
  • Last season, Bryant raced out to a 33-0 lead but had to hold on for a 36-29 victory at Beirne Stadium.
  • Saturday will mark Bryant's first game at Brown since 2017.   

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters week three of the season at 0-2 following a 35-21 loss to No. 22 URI last Saturday.
  • Joe Andreessen led Bryant with 11.0 tackles and also intercepted his first pass of the year. He became the first player in DI program history to post 10+ tackles in back-to-back games to start the year.
  • Kenny Dyson Jr. posted 2.5 TFLs and also had a strip sack for the Black and Gold last weekend. 
  • Zevi Eckhaus has completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 514 yards and four TDs. He threw for 271 yards and three scores last Saturday.
  • Jalen Powell and David Zorrilla each have eight receptions, while Landon Ruggieri has seven.  

A bit about the Bears

  • Saturday will be the season opener for the Bears. 
  • Brown head coach James Perry served as the head coach of the Bulldogs in 2017 and 2018.
  • The Bears will be without All-American QB EJ Perry but do return nearly all of their wide receivers and their top running back from a season ago.
