Three Bulldogs earn Big South weekly honors

CHARLOTTE - The Bryant University football team nearly swept the Big South weekly honors as Zevi Eckhaus, Joe Andreessen and Anthony Frederick were recognized on Monday afternoon. 

Eckhaus was named the Big South Offensive Player of the Week, Andreessen earned Big South Defensive Player of the Week honors and Frederick was named the Big South Special Teams Player of the Week. 

Now a two-time offensive player of the week, Eckhaus completed 24-of-42 passes for 336 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday. He finished with 358 yards of total offense. Eckhaus connected on touchdown passes of 24, 40 and 25 on the afternoon, with his third scoring strike tying the game at 38-38 in overtime. 

Andreessen continued his torrid start to the season, finishing with 12.0 tackles, an interception, a blocked PAT, a fumble recovery, a sack and two TFLs. He had an interception and a fumble recovery on consecutive Brown drives in the second quarter on Saturday. Andreessen now has 10+ tackles in each of the first three games, a first in program history. 

Frederick tied the Big South and Bryant record with a 100-yard kick return touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 7-3 lead. He went on to post 197 yards on five returns, setting the Bryant single-game record. Frederick also added two catches for 35 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown reception, finishing with a career-high 232 all-purpose yards. He was also named the FedEx Ground FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week.
