Bryant visits LIU on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team travels to Long Island on Saturday to face the Sharks. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.

Series History

  • Bryant and LIU are meeting for the fourth time in DI program history. The Bulldogs have won two of the three meetings. 
  • Last season, Bryant erupted for a 52-7 victory over the Sharks at Beirne Stadium.
  • The Black and Gold racked up 547 yards of total offense in the victory.   

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters the weekend at 0-3 following a double OT loss to Brown last Saturday. The Bulldogs have lost in overtime in two of the first three weeks.
  • Anthony Frederick was named the FedEx Ground FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week after posting 197 return yards and 232 all-purpose yards at Brown. He posted a 100-yard return for a touchdown and also caught a touchdown pass. 
  • Frederick ranks first nationally in return yards and fifth nationally in all-purpose yards per game. 
  • Frederick was also named the Big South Special Teams Player of the Week. Zevi Eckhaus and Joe Andreessen were also recognized by the league. Eckhaus threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns, while Andreessen posted 12.0 tackles, 1 INT, 1 FR, 2.0 TFLs and a blocked PAT. 
  • Eckhaus leads the Big South in passing yards and touchdowns. 
  • Andreessen is the only player in DI program history to start a season with three-straight games of 10+ tackles. 
  • Landon Ruggieri posted his first-career 100-yard game last week, finishing with nine catches for 119 yards.  

A bit about the Sharks

  • The Sharks are off to an 0-3 start but have played two FBS teams and an a nationally-ranked FCS squad. 
  • LIU is averaging 260 yards of total offense per game and is allowing 518 yards per game. 
  • Victor Nelso Jr. has four interceptions in three games.
