Andreessen, Gettman earn Big South honors

CHARLOTTE - Bryant University football senior Joe Andreessen and junior Ethan Gettman picked up weekly honors from the Big South on Monday.

Andreessen was named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week, while Gettman shared Big South Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

The leading tackler in the Big South, Andreessen made 13.0 stops and recovered a fumble in the endzone for a touchdown against LIU on Saturday. He has 10+ tackles in each of the first four games of the season, a first in DI program history.

Gettman played hero on Saturday, kicking a game-winning 37-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Black and Gold to a 31-29 victory. The field goal was a career long for Gettman who is now 3-for-3 this season. It is the first walk off field goal for the Bulldogs since Luke Samperi accomplished the feat in 2018 at Fordham.
