SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University field hockey goalie Kundayi Mawema (Harare, Zimbabwe) was named the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Student-Athlete of the Year by the Northeast Conference. The league honor comes two months after the Rhode Island Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (RIAIAW) deemed the 2009 senior captain its Distinguished Athlete of the Year.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University field hockey will host a one-day Bulldog Preseason Team Clinic on the campus of Bryant University Saturday, August 21. The clinic will be run by head coach Shaunessy Saucier and assistant coach Lauren Sickel and is open to middle school and high school age teams.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The criteria for the RIAIAW Distinguished Athlete of the Year Award has three key components. The honoree must possess leadership qualities. She must stand as a role model to others, displaying such coveted assets as perseverance, commitment, ethical behavior and academic success. She must enjoy an above average degree of physical talent.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University field hockey team is chipping in to do its part this offseason, taking time to contribute to the Rhode Island community in which its members live. The Bulldogs will be taking part in four different charity or community events in March and April.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant University head field hockey coach Shaunessey Saucier is pleased to announce the signing of five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2010 season. The quintet of incoming recruits make up the Bulldog field hockey Class of 2014 and will join the Bryant field hockey team in 2010 for its third year of Division I action and first season of full NCAA eligibility. The five-member class includes an addition at every position.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior goalkeeper Kundayi Mawema (Harare, Zimbabwe) put up 11 saves while sophomore Courtney Landi (Kingston, N.Y.) notched her eighth goal of the season but it wouldn’t be enough to get past a tough La Salle side, as the Bryant University field hockey team fell in its 2009 season finale, 2-1, at the Bryant Turf Complex.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Brittany Glenn (Easthampton, Mass.) scored off a penalty stroke with just 2:57 to play in Friday afternoon’s game between Bryant University and Monmouth, breaking a scoreless deadlock to notch the game’s only goal and lead the Bulldog field hockey team to a 1-0 victory over the Hawks.
