Jaarsma ties program-record for saves in defeat

LOWELL, Mass. – Marijn Jaarsma tied a program-record with 15 saves but the Bryant University field hockey team fell to UMass Lowell, 3-0, on Thursday afternoon.

The Bulldogs were playing for the first time in 487 days and it was the first game for Laura Gebhart as head coach of the program.

KEY MOMENT

  • UMass Lowell was able to break the deadlock with a deflection goal in the 24th minute. 

SCORING SUMMARY

  • 24' – Off a penalty corner, Berbel Rozema fired a shot that was deflected home by Mirthe Gans. 
  • 49' - The River Hawks pushed the lead to 2-0 with another deflected shot. 
  • 51' - UML closed the scoring as Rozema was able to tip home a crossing feed.
