Jaarsma makes 20 saves, Bulldogs fall in 2OT

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Marijn Jaarsma made a program-record 20 saves but the Bryant University field hockey dropped a double-OT thriller to New Hampshire on Friday evening at Lennon Field on the campus of Providence College.

Jaarsma's 20 saves are the second-most in an NCAA game this season and five more than any other Bulldog goalie in program history. Taryn Rauff scored her second goal of the season to account for Bryant's lone goal.

KEY MOMENT

  • Jaiden Wittel tied the game with just 2:36 remaining in the game. Bloem van den Brekel then scored with 4:48 remaining in the second overtime.        

SCORING SUMMARY

  • Q3 - 38:33 - Bryant earned a penalty corner and was able to take advantage. The initial attempt was blocked and Rauff was able to find the loose ball. She then unleashed a rocket to the top right of the cage.
  • Q4 - 57:22 - Wittel sent the game to overtime, converting a chance late in the game.
  • OT2 - 75:12 - The Wildcats won the game on a goal from van den Brekel.

  • Jaarsma, who ranks second nationally in saves per game, made 20 stops on Friday.
