Bryant wins second straight, blanks LIU

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Taryn Rauff scored her seventh goal of the year and Marijn Jaarsma posted her second-straight shutout as the Bryant University field hockey team defeated Long Island, 1-0, on Sunday.

Rauff now leads the Bulldogs with seven goals, while Jaarsma posted six saves for her second-straight shutout.

KEY MOMENT

  • Rauff scored just over eight minutes in and it was all the Bulldogs needed.         

HOW IT HAPPENED

Bryant was able to get things going early, scoring eight minutes in. Carson Dennis was able to feed Rauff and she did the rest. Rauff took a step to her right and then fired a reverse through the legs of the goalie.

Jaarsma then preserved the shutout, making several key second-half saves.    

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Rauff now leads the team with seven goals and 15 points.
  • Dennis recorded her first assist and has nine points on the year.
  • Jaarsma posted six saves for her second shutout. She now has five career shutouts.
  • Bryant has won back-to-back games for the first time since 2017.
  • The Bulldogs have posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 2009.
