Bulldogs fall to Cal on Sunday

PROVIDENCE – Cal broke open a close game with three fourth-quarter goals on its way to a 5-0 victory over the Bryant University field hockey team on Sunday afternoon.

KEY MOMENT

  • The Bears scored five minutes apart to grab a 2-0 lead they would not relinquish.              

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bears opened the scoring as Monica Arteaga found the back of the net. Five minutes later, Rachel Buttinger scored the first of her three goals to make it 2-0.

Cal put the game away with three goals in a three-minute span in the fourth quarter.   

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Bryant dropped both games on the weekend, falling to 0-2 in America East play.
  • Dieneke Hes made five saves.
  • Bryant was limited to just three shots on goal with Brittany Gouws posting two and Lotte Guitink one.
