Pride collects third NEC Rookie of the Week honor

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University men's basketball freshman Charles Pride (Syracuse, N.Y.) has been selected as the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending Jan. 25, as announced Monday by the NEC office.

Pride recorded 16 points and eight rebounds in Thursday's 79-58 victory over Wagner at the Chace Athletic Center. The freshman from Syracuse was 7-of-9 from the field and matched his career-high in rebounds. Pride followed that performance with eight points on 3-of-4 shooting Saturday at Mount St. Mary's, giving him 12.0 points per game on the week while shooting 76.9% from the field.

The award is the third of the year for Pride and the sixth for the Bulldogs, who match the 2015-16 team for the most in program history. Freshman Benson Lin (New Taipei City, Taiwan) earned his third NEC Rookie of the Week last week. Pride and Lin are tied for the most weekly rookie honors in the conference this season.

Bryant returns to action Thursday when the Bulldogs travel to Pennsylvania to face Robert Morris. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. on NEC Front Row and the NEC On the Run app.
