Grasso adds Cyriac to coaching staff for 2021-22

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University men's basketball head coach Jared Grasso announced the addition of Jay Cyriac to the coaching staff for the 2021-22 season. Cyriac will serve as the Director of Player Personnel.

Cyriac brings over 15 years of coaching experience and a proven record of player development to Smithfield.

"Jay is a veteran assistant coach who has seen success everywhere he has been," Grasso said. He most recently was an integral part of building a National Championship program at Hutchinson Community College. We feel his ability to evaluate and build relationships with our players will add to the growth of our program. Jay's loyalty is second to none and we are excited to add him to the Bulldog family."

Cyriac joins the Black and Gold after spending the past 10 seasons at Hutchinson Community College. He helped HCC go 258-58 and win a national championship during his time in Kansas. The program qualified for four national tournaments, was a runner-up in 2016 and claimed the NJCAA National Championship in 2017. Cyriac directed the national and international recruiting efforts and instructed practice sessions and skill sessions. He coached seven first-team All-Americans and two National Players of the Year.

Prior to his time at Hutchinson, Cyriac spent time as an assistant at Seward County Community College (2010-11), as a men's basketball student assistant at South Alabama (2006-07) and as an assistant coach at College of Southern Idaho (1999-2003). He helped build CSI into a national powerhouse at the junior college level, recruiting and coaching over 15 Division I and professional players during his time in Twin Falls.

In addition to his coaching resume, Cyriac also served as a college and high school basketball scout for the Philadelphia 76ers (2003-04), a media relations assistant for the UA Senior Bowl (2009) and as a consultant with Global Sports Management, assisting in the planning and organizing of tours for NCAA men's basketball programs in the United States and internationally.
