Bulldogs fall to BCU, 81-75, on Saturday

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Hall Elisias posted 10 points, nine rebounds and blocked five shots but the Bryant University men's basketball team fell to Bethune-Cookman, 81-75, on Saturday afternoon in the Sunshine Slam at the Ocean Center.

Elisias moved to within one of Bryant's DI program record for career blocks with 147. Adham Eleeda led Bryant scorers with 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting from three, Chris Childs added 16 points and Peter Kiss scored 14 points and grabbed six boards. Charles Pride chipped in 11 points and had five rebounds.

Bryant will now face Holy Cross in the consolation round of the Sunshine Slam on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

Key Moments

  • Bryant grabbed a 59-57 lead on an Eleeda jumper but Joe French answered with a three on the other end and the Wildcats would outscore Bryant 24-16 over the final six minutes.     

How it Happened

  • Bryant scored the first six points of the afternoon and then used an 9-0 run to take a 15-7 lead with 12:48 remaining in the first half. Eleeda's three followed a Tyler Brelsford offensive rebound to cap the run.
  • BCU would rally back to take a 22-21 lead with 7:21 remaining in the first half but Eleeda answered with another trifecta.
  • Bryant would take a 26-24 lead but the Wildcats ran off seven-straight points to take a 31-26 lead.
  • Marcus Garrett's jumper with three seconds remaining sent the Wildcats to the break with a four-point lead.
  • The Wildcats pushed their lead to nine to start the second half but back-to-back threes from Pride and Eleeda pulled Bryant back within three.
  • Bryant finally pulled back in front as Eleeda and Childs hit threes 30 seconds apart, giving the Bulldogs a 55-53 lead with 9:10 remaining.
  • Eleeda's pull-up jumper made it 59-57 but French answered with a three to put BCU ahead for good.
  • Bryant would pull within two but a late 6-0 run for the Wildcats put the game away.

  • Bryant finished 27-of-61 (44 percent) from the field, 10-of-31 (32 percent) from three and 11-of-19 (58 percent) from the line.
  • BCU outrebounded Bryant, 44-39.
  • Eleeda finished with 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc. He added four rebounds.
  • Childs scored 16 points, grabbed five boards and had three assists. He went 6-of-6 from the line.
  • Kiss posted 14 points, six rebounds and four assists.
  • Pride scored 11 points and had five rebounds.
  • Elisias scored 10 points, grabbed nine boards and blocked five shots.

Game Notes

  • Kiss is now 4 points shy of 1,000 for his collegiate career.
  • Elisias blocked 5+ shots for the second time this year and 3+ shots for the 25th time in his career.
  • Elisias now has 147 blocks as a Bulldog, one shy of tying Dan Garvin for the DI program record.
  • Eleeda's 17 points are his most as a Bulldog. He's the third different Bulldog to hit at least five threes this year.
