Bryant faces Wright St. Wednesday in Dayton

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Northeast Conference Champion Bryant University men's basketball team will face Horizon League Champion Wright St. in the NCAA First Four on Wednesday, March 16 in Dayton, Ohio. Tip is set for 6:40 p.m. on TruTV.

The winner of Wednesday's game will advance to be the No. 16 seed in the South Region and face top-seeded Arizona on Friday in San Diego.

THE SERIES
Bryant and Wright St. will be meeting for the first time in program history on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are 4-18 against current members of the Horizon League. That record includes a 4-17 mark against former NEC member Robert Morris. 

DAWGS ARE DANCIN'
The Bulldogs are in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007-08 (Division II). It will be the program's eighth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its first at the Division I level. Bryant began its transition to DI in 2008-09 and was first eligible for the postseason in 2012-13.                 

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

  1. Bryant enters the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 22-9. The 22 wins are the third-most all-time. Bryant's NEC Regular-Season and Tournament titles are the first in program history.    
  2. Peter Kiss enters Wednesday as the nation's leading scorer with 25.1 points per game. Kiss has scored 20+ points in 12 of his last 13 and leads the nation with 10 30-point games. Kiss has scored a DI program record 652 points this season. It is the most by a Bulldog since John Williams scored 682 during Bryant's memorable run to the 2005 Division II National Championship game. Kiss also recorded his 1,000th point as a Bulldog in the NEC Championship, becoming the fastest Bulldog to reach the mark in DI program history (48 games).   
  3. Charles Pride is second on the team in scoring with 18.0 ppg. He tied his career-high with 17 rebounds in the NEC Championship and is the highest-rebounding guard in the country with 8.6 caroms per game. Pride posted double-doubles in both the NEC Semifinal and NEC Final and has 10 on the year.     
  4. Kiss and Pride are the nation's highest-scoring duo, averaging 43.1 ppg. They combined to score 71 on Feb. 10 at Sacred Heart.     
  5. Hall Elisias blocked eight shots in the NEC Final and enters the NCAA Tournament ranked sixth nationally with 3.04 blocks per game. He has 207 blocks in his Bryant career and 238 in his collegiate career.
