Bryant opens Florida trip Thursday at FAU

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's basketball team heads to the Sunshine State this for three games in five days, beginning Thursday at Florida Atlantic. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m.

Thursday's game is being dubbed the Boca Raton MegaBowl by the Owls is a part of the FAU Paradise Invitational. The game will be streamed on C-USATV.

THE SERIES
Bryant and Florida Atlantic are meeting for the first time in program history. The Bulldogs and Owls are both either ranked or receiving votes in both mid-major polls. Bryant is ranked No. 22 by Mid-Major Madness and No. 23 by College Insider. FAU is receiving votes in the Mid-Major Madness poll.

NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
Thursday's game at FAU is the first of five games Bryant will play against teams that are either ranked in the mid-major top 25 or are in the top 100 according to kenpom.com. The Bulldogs will also face Cincinnati, Tulane, Liberty and Towson.

LONG TIME COMING
Bryant's Nov. 7 opener vs Thomas was a long time coming for Sherif Gross-Bullock and Miles Latimer, a pair of transfers that joined the Bulldogs in January of 2022. Gross-Bullock appeared in a game for the first time in 324 days, while Latimer had gone 607 days since his last game action (Mar. 10, 2021).                  

FIVE MORE THINGS TO KNOW

  1. Bryant is off to a 3-0 start for the first time in DI program history. The Bulldogs earned a 89-70 victory last Friday at Dartmouth, outscoring the Big Green 23-2 over the final 5:30.
  2. Sherif Gross-Bullock was named the America East Player of the Week on Nov. 14 after averaging 24.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 4.5 apg and 3.5 spg in two wins. He scored a career-high 27 points in Bryant's win at Dartmouth.
  3. Earl Timberlake recorded his first-career double-double in Bryant's win at Dartmouth, finishing with 19 pts and 12 reb. He added five assists. He set career highs in both points and rebounds. 
  4. Charles Pride was named to the preseason Jerry West Award Watch List, awarded annually to the best shooting guard in the country.      
  5. Bryant's three-game trip to Florida will also include matchups with Florida International (Saturday, Nov. 19) and Detroit Mercy (Monday, Nov. 21).
