Bulldogs fall at UMass Lowell on Sunday

LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell rode a strong first half performance to an 98-77 victory over the Bryant University men's basketball team on Sunday afternoon at the Costello Athletic Center.

The loss snaps Bryant's three-game winning streak and sets them at 13-7 overall and 4-3 in the America East. Bryant will face Binghamton on Saturday.

Charles Pride was one of Bryant's lone bright spots, finishing with 27 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field. He was 4-of-6 from three, 7-of-8 from the line and added seven rebounds. Sherif Gross-Bullock posted 11 points, while Kvonn Cramer finished with nine off the bench.

UMass Lowell dominated on the glass (47-26 in rebounds) and in the paint (50-36), building a 57-31 halftime lead. The River Hawks are now 11-0 at home this season.

How it Happened

  • UML got off to an 11-3 lead but five-straight points from Gross-Bullock pulled the Bulldogs within three. Gross-Bullock scored all eight of Bryant's points to start.
  • Pride then converted a four-point play to pull Bryant within one at 14:49.
  • The River Hawks, however, would go on a 16-2 run over the next 3:58 to take a 31-16 lead with 10:36 left in the first half. UML went 6-of-10 during the stretch, while the Bulldogs were 1-of-6 from the field.
  • UML built the lead thanks a 14-3 rebounding advantage in the first 10 minutes.
  • Pride stopped the run briefly, converting all three free throws after he was fouled from beyond the arc.
  • The River Hawks would build a 35-19 advantage with 7:39 left in the first half.
