Bulldogs tied for third after day one of Towson Spring Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University golf team shot an opening round 302 (+14) and is tied for third heading into Tuesday's final round of the Towson Spring Invitational in Grasonville, Md.

Siena College also shot a 302 on the par-72 course, as both the Saints and Bulldogs sit seven strokes behind the leader, Drexel (295, +7).

Junior Ryan Tombs (Bedford, N.H.) is currently tied for third himself after a 72, even par on the first day of the tournament. He trails the overall leader, Christopher Crawford of Drexel, by three strokes. Junior McKinley Slade (Saunderstown, R.I.) was also strong on day one with a 75, three-over par to sit tied for 14th. Seniors Joe Walp (Portland, Maine) and Kyle Buschmann (East Haddam, Conn.) finished inside the top 35 with scores of 77 and 78 to sit 27th and 33rd, respectively.
