Bryant golf finishes Hartford Hawks Invite tied for 11th

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After a second-round 306 Tuesday, the Bryant University golf team finished the Hartford Hawks Invite tied for 11th in the 19-team field.

Senior John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) carded the best scoring round of the day for the Bulldogs at 74, wrapping up the two-day tournament with a 148 to finish in 40th place on the individual circuit. Seniors Ryan Tombs (Bedford, N.H.) and McKinley Slade (Saunderstown, R.I.) each shot a 77 Tuesday while freshman Will Del Biaggio (San Jose, Calif.) shot a 78 as the three tied for 49th overall with two-round scores of 150.

Sophomore Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) also hit a 78 on Tuesday to finish tied for 85th in the field (156). Though he was playing as an individual, junior Gabriel Van Ness (Clinton, Conn.) carded the top lap of the day with a 72, finishing tied for 55th with a two-day total of 151.

UCF's Donnie Trosper held onto his day-one lead to win the individual title with a two-round 134 (65-69), leading his team to a second-place finish. Cal Poly held onto the team lead, finishing three strokes ahead of UCF to win the Hartford Hawks Invite with a score of 558. Seton Hall (565), Sam Houston State (570) and UConn (571) rounded out the top five. Bryant finished the tournament with a team score of 598.

The Bulldogs return to the course Oct. 1-2 when they take on NEC foe Central Connecticut State University.
