Bryant leads CCSU by 12 strokes after round one of dual match; play resumes Sunday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Carding a one-over-par 285 as a squad, the Bryant University golf team leads host Central Connecticut State University by 12 strokes after the first round of the teams' dual match, played Saturday at Connecticut National Golf Club in Putnam, Conn.

Freshmen Will Del Biaggio (San Jose, Calif.) and Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) and senior John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) all shot even-par 71s to tie for second, one stroke behind the Blue Devils' Brandon Raine. Raine stands alone atop the leaderboard after a Saturday 70.

Senior Ryan Tombs (Bedford, N.H.) shot a 72 on the afternoon to tie for fifth after the opening round, while classmate McKinley Slade (Saunderstown, R.I.) and rookie Payton Kim (Palatine, Ill.) carded 74s to enter Sunday action tied for seventh. Kim was playing as an individual.

Raine and Anthony Sebastianelli (T5) were the only Blue Devils to finish above any of the six participating Bulldogs, as CCSU saw its final four players round out the individual circuit. The Blue Devils carded a team score of 297.
