Del Biaggio ties for fifth, Bulldogs finish 10th at Towson Spring Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Freshman Will Del Biaggio (San Jose, Calif.) posted a strong showing at the Towson Spring Invitational, shooting a one-over 73 Sunday to finish the tournament tied for fifth in the 120-golfer field.

Playing as an individual, Del Biaggio (145) was the top finisher among the Black and Gold, but could not contribute to the Bulldogs' team score, as the Bryant University golf team finished 10th of 22 teams on the weekend. As a team, the Bulldogs shot a day-two 308 to finish at 609 on the two-round set (+33).

Senior McKinley Slade (Saunderstown, R.I.) shot even par Sunday to finish tied for 25th on the individual circuit (150). Classmate John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) shot four-over par and carded a 153 on the weekend (+9), an effort equaled by sophomore Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) as the pair tied for 43rd overall.

Senior Ryan Tombs (Bedford, N.H.) registered a Sunday 78 to finish tied for 68th (157), while rookie Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) tied for 71st after a two-day 158.

Elon won the team title with a two-round score of 587 (+11), followed by host Towson (588), day-one leader Fairleigh Dickinson (591), Bethune-Cookman (594) and William & Mary (598). Bethune-Cookman's Daniel Brennan won the individual crown with a two-under 142, followed by a three-way tie for second between Towson's Spencer Alexander, FDU's Nicolas Osorio and Elon's Jared Mactas (143).

The Bulldogs return to the greens April 2-3, when they participate in the Coca-Cola Lehigh Valley Invite in Hellartown, Pa.
