Bulldogs, Del Biaggio lead field after two rounds of VGA/UConn Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – With two rounds of the VGA/UConn Collegiate Invitational in the books, the Bryant University golf team leads the field behind top-10 performances from a trio of players at the Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Baltic, Conn.

Tied with Army's Dean Sakata, Bulldog freshman Will Del Biaggio (San Jose, Calif.) sits atop the individual leaderboard with a pair of under-par rounds, totaling a five-under 139 (70-69). Sophomore Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) also enters Saturday's final lap under par after a two-round 143 (72-71) and sits tied for fifth overall.

Senior McKinley Slade (Saunderstown, R.I.) hit at even par on the day with identical rounds of 72 and sits knotted for ninth, while classmate Ryan Tombs (Bedford, N.H.) carded the best score in Friday's second round with a four-under 68 to make up ground after an opening-round 77. He is currently tied for 12th overall.

Senior John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) also ranks in the individual top-20 with a three-over 147 (74-73). Playing unattached, freshman Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) carded a two-round 153 (+9) with laps of 79 and 74 to tie for 37th among the 61 golfers.

As a team, the Bulldogs sit at eight under with a two-round 568, four strokes ahead of host UConn (572). Army sits in third but is 13 strokes back on the Black and Gold. Also included in the field are six players from the Veteran Golfers Association. Team VGA sits ninth.
