Del Biaggio earns first collegiate title, Bulldogs take third at VGA/UConn Collegiate Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Will Del Biaggio (San Jose, Calif.) earned the first individual title of his career Saturday, finishing three under par to win the three-round VGA/UConn Collegiate Invitational.

Del Biaggio's three-round 213 (70-69-74) secured the rookie his first collegiate win and kept the Bulldogs in the hunt for a top-3 finish. Bryant would take third after a round-three 304, finishing eight over par (872). UConn won the team title with a three-under 861, while St. Thomas Aquinas took second with a four-over 868.

Senior Ryan Tombs (Bedford, N.H.) finished tied for 11th in the 61-golfer field, shooting a 74 on Saturday to hit a 219 (+3) through three laps. Classmate McKinley Slade (Saunderstown, R.I.) tied for 20th overall with a score of 222 (+6), while sophomore Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) finished one stroke behind Slade with a 223 (72-71-80) to tie for 24th.

Senior John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) tied for 28th on the individual circuit, finishing with a 225 (+9) on the tournament. Rookie Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) finished 46th playing unattached, carding a 79 in the third round for a 236 (+20).

The Bulldogs are back at it Monday and Tuesday but will play close to home, taking part in the Rhode Island Invitational at Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingston, R.I.
