Bulldogs compete in rain-shortened first day of Connecticut Cup

ELLINGTON, Conn. – The Bryant University men's golf team stands in 15th place after a rain-shortened first day of the Connecticut Cup, hosted by UConn at Ellington Ridge Country Club.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The teams were scheduled to play 36 holes Monday, but were halted early in the second round due to rain and wind from the remnants of Hurricane Nate.
  • The Bulldogs stand in 15th place in the 15-team event at 313 (+25), 29 strokes behind team leader UConn (-4).
  • Graduate John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) led the Bulldogs in the first round with a 77 (+5).
  • Junior Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) carded a 78 in the first round, while sophomores Steve Tasho (North Easton, Mass.) and Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) both shot a 79.
  • Freshman Gustavo Betances Pichardo (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) carded an 83 in his first collegiate round, while junior Jake Ratti (Hanover, Mass.) recorded an 80 while competing as an individual.
