Ryan Brown leads Bulldogs on chilly first day at Towson Invitational

GRASONVILLE, Md. – The Bryant University men's golf team stands in 12th place out of 17 teams after the first day of the Towson Invitational Saturday at Prospect Bay Country Club.

Junior Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) shot a team-low 78 (+6) Saturday on a course in which just 20 of 90 players carded a 76 or better. Temperatures were in the mid-30s during the morning on Maryland's Eastern Shore with wet course conditions presenting an added variable. Team leader Central Connecticut was the lone squad out of 17 teams to record a score under 300 Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Brown shot a six-over 78 and is tied for 30th entering Sunday's final round.
  • Sophomore Payton Kim (Palatine, Ill.) carded a 79 while playing as an individual. Kim is tied for 43rd.
  • Graduate student John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) and sophomore Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) each recorded an 80 on the day and are tied for 52nd.
  • Sophomore Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) and junior Jake Ratti (Hanover, Mass.) rounded out the scoring with an 81 and 82, respectively.
