Bulldogs third through 18 holes of NEC Championship behind top-10 days from Henderson and Stafford

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Sophomore Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) shot a two-over 74 to lead the Bryant University golf team in the first day of the Northeast Conference Championship, as the Bulldogs stand in third place through the first 18 holes.

Henderson carded a 74 on the day, good for fourth in the tournament and three back of leader Nicholas Piersall of Central Connecticut. The Blue Devils – with golfers in first, second and third place – lead by 14 strokes over Robert Morris and are 15 ahead of Bryant.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Henderson was two-under through nine holes and led the field halfway through the day.
  • Sophomore Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) is eighth through 18 holes with a 75 Friday. Stafford shot one-under on the back nine and is one of three players in a tie for eighth.
  • Graduate student John Roberts (West Hartford, Conn.) shot a 76 and is tied for 11th.
  • Junior Ryan Brown (Bedford, N.H.) recorded an 81, while birdieing twice on the back nine. Brown is tied for 27th.
  • Sophomore Payton Kim (Palatine, Ill.) is tied for 37th after shooting an 83 Friday.
