Bulldogs open fall campaign at Ryan T. Lee Memorial

SIMSBURY, Conn. – The Bryant University golf team opens the 2019 fall campaign Saturday and Sunday at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate Tournament. The event will be played at the Hop Meadow Country Club on the 6,915-yard, par 72 Geoffrey Cornish-designed course.

The tournament will begin play Saturday morning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The 16-team field will play 18 holes on Saturday followed by 18 more on Sunday.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • This year will mark Bryant's fifth year competing in the event, in which the team has brought home two tournament championships and two individual titles.
  • The Bulldogs tied for second out of 13 teams at last year's tournament behind Sacred Heart who won the title with a 9-over par team total of 585.
  • Four of last year's five starters from the tournament are back again this season. Senior Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) led the Black and Gold in 2018, finishing tied for ninth overall with a 4-over par 148 (71-77).
  • Senior Andrew Warfield (Southborough, Mass.) and junior Nick Piersall (Portland, Conn.) both carded 6-over par 150, tying for 16th place.
  • Senior Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) and sophomore Tyler Hahn (Avon, Conn.) closed play tied for 26th overall with a 7-over par 151.
  • The team ended last season with a second-place finish at the NEC Championship and two All-NEC honors.
  • Stafford tied for sixth at the NEC Championship and earned First Team NEC honors. He led Bryant with a 75.7 average last year after 23 rounds of play.
