Henderson and Piersall lead Bryant after day one in Simsbury

SIMSBURY, Conn. – The Bryant University men's golf team finished the first round of play at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate in third place with a 6-over par 294.

Senior Connor Henderson (Southborough, Mass.) and junior Nick Piersall (Avon, Conn.) led the Bulldogs tied for seventh with an even par 72.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Henderson ended the first round with four birdies, four bogies and 10 pars on the afternoon.
• Piersall tied for the team lead with 14 pars, two bogeys and two birdies on holes six and 12.
• Senior Matthew Stafford (Suffield, Conn.) finished the first round with 10 pars and four bogies, but had three birdies, landing him tied for 14^th place with a 1-over par 73.
• Senior Mario Wilson (Taunton, Mass.) and sophomore Tyler Hahn (Avon, Conn.) each finished with a 5-over par 77, tieing for 48^th place. Both added a pair of birdies, with Wilson birdieing the par-4 eighth and par-5 17^th. Hahn put birdies down on the fifth and 18^th hole.
• Freshman Jonah Klaasen (Westlake Village, Calif.) also played as an individual, completing the first round of play with a 11-over par 83, tying for 79^th place.
