SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- After nearly two weeks of grueling competition at the FIL World Championships in Manchester, England, Team USA can return to the States will a smile. Because despite suffering a loss in pool play to rival Canada, Team USA - led by Bryant University head lacrosse coach Mike Pressler - found redemption and ultimate glory in Saturday's championship game, beating Canada, 12-10, to walk away with the gold.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. Its official. Bryant University Director of Athletics Bill Smith received notification this week from the N.C.A.A. confirming that the Bulldog mens lacrosse and field hockey programs have completed their two-year reclassification and now officially belong in the ranks of Division I.

BRYANT PLACES 65 STUDENT-ATHLETES ON NEC ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL

SOMERSET, NJ A total of 65 Bryant University student-athletes have been named to the Northeast Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, including nine earning Spring Commissioners Honor Roll distinction. In addition, mens tennis junior Cristian Balestrieri (Mar Del Plata, Argentina) and womens tennis senior Chelsea Downing (Cherry Hills Village, Colo.) were recognized as NEC Spring Scholar-Athletes for 2010.

Bryant University head mens lacrosse coach Mike Pressler will be appearing on NBCs The Today Show on Thursday morning, July 1 to discuss the upcoming World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, England July 15-24. Pressler will be coaching Team USA at the championships.

SMITHFIELD Seated in a folding chair beneath the grandstand at Bulldog Stadium, fit and tanned, enjoying his view of the world through his sunglasses, Mike Pressler is a portrait of a happy man. He coaches the U.S. National Lacrosse Team that will work out at Bryant next week before leaving for Manchester, England, and the World Championships. He directs popular lacrosse camps in Aspen and Atlanta.

After one of them most impressive careers in Bryant mens lacrosse history, graduate student and 2010 captain Andrew Hennessey (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) will be a rookie once again. Only this time, he will be playing as a professional, selected by the Denver Outlaws with the 11th overall pick in Sundays 2010 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) draft.
