Bryant's 2020 captains announced

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head men's lacrosse coach Mike Pressler has announced the Bulldogs' four captains for the upcoming 2020 season.

Redshirt-senior Jack Horan (San Rafael, Calif.), senior Jake Fiske (Poway, Calif.), senior Trevor Weingarten (Allendale, N.J.) and junior Marc O'Rourke (Hingham, Mass.) will serve as Bryant's captains this spring as the Bulldogs begin their 21st season as an NCAA program.

"I am thrilled to officially announce our four team captains, elected by their peers, for the 2020 season," said Pressler. "All four are proven multi-year starters and veterans with incredible on-the-field experience. We will have great balance with two captains representing each end of the field. Each one of these young men have already demonstrated themselves as great leaders both on and off the field to date. They continue to hold themselves and their teammates to a lofty, high standard of excellence both athletically and academically. I am eagerly looking forward to working with them as we prepare to begin the 2020 season."

Horan was a second-team All-NEC selection and USILA Scholar All-American in 2019, starting all 14 games defensively while collecting 23 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. The California native has played 29 games in Black & Gold, starting 15, with 26 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers in his career in Black & Gold. Horan, who graduated in May, is pursuing MBA in the 2019-20 academic year.

Fiske returns to the field in 2020 after an injury-shortened junior campaign in which he was limited to five games, but still contributed 16 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. The Bulldog LSM has been a key piece to the Bryant defense during his time in Smithfield, appearing in 39 career games and collecting 69 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers.

Weingarten was a second-team All-NEC honoree in 2019 with career-highs in goals (20), assists (14), points (34) and ground balls (21). The New Jersey native has scored 37 goals and added 19 assists in his Bulldog career over 38 games played.

O'Rourke collected first-team All-NEC accolades for the second-consecutive season in 2019, racking up 53 points on 32 goals and 21 assists. The junior attackman eclipsed the 100-point mark for his collegiate career last April and has 65 goals in his first 29 contests in Black & Gold.

Bryant begins the 2020 season Sunday, Feb. 9, when Bucknell visits Beirne Stadium to open the year. The full 2020 schedule will be announced later this fall.
