McGovern collects NEC Player and Rookie honors

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University men's lacrosse redshirt-freshman Logan McGovern (Darien, Conn.) took home two of the Northeast Conference's three weekly awards Monday, collecting Player and Rookie of the Week honors from the league office.

McGovern tied Bryant's freshman single-game points record with eight in Saturday's 16-5 win at Manhattan. The attackman from Connecticut tallied five goals and added three assists to match the record set by Marc O'Rourke (Hingham, Mass.) in 2018.

McGovern became the fifth player in Bryant's Division I history with a game of eight or more points, joining Tucker James – who achieved the feat four times – O'Rourke, Zack Greer and Peter McMahon. For the year, McGovern is fourth on the Bulldogs in goals (9) and points (16), while tied for the team lead in assists (7) and first in man-up goals (3).

Bryant returns to action Saturday when the Bulldogs host Stony Brook at Beirne Stadium at noon. Tickets are available HERE and the game can be seen on NEC Front Row.
