O'Rourke collects NEC Player of the Week honor

SOMERSET, N.J. – A career day from Bryant University men's lacrosse junior Marc O'Rourke (Hingham, Mass.) earned the Bulldog attackman Northeast Conference Player of the Week honors, as announced Monday by the NEC office.

O'Rourke broke the Bulldogs' Division I single-game goals record with seven in Saturday's 15-11 victory over Stony Brook. The junior from Massachusetts matched Jon Yuengling's all-time record for goals in a game, set in the program's time in the Northeast-10 in 2004 against Saint Anselm.

O'Rourke matched his career high with eight points in the contest and joined Tucker James as the only players in Bryant's D1 history to score six or more goals in a game three times.

The Bulldogs have gone back-to-back in NEC Player of the Week honors, as redshirt-freshman Logan McGovern (Darien, Conn.) took home both Player and Rookie of the Week honors last Monday.

Bryant returns to action Tuesday at 11 a.m. when the Bulldogs face No. 5 North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The game can be seen on ACC Network Extra.
