O'Rourke sets record as Bryant downs SHU

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Marc O'Rourke scored a program-record nine goals and finished with 12 points as the Bryant University men's lacrosse team defeated Sacred Heart, 22-10, on Saturday afternoon at Beirne Stadium.

O'Rourke broke his own single-game record of seven with his nine tallies. His 12 points are the second-most in a game in program history. O'Rourke also became just the second player in DI program history to record 200 career points.

Bryant also received six points (4g, 2a) from Logan McGovern and four points (2g, 2a) from Bennett Abladian. The 22 goals tie the single-game DI program record.

"Just a great team W in a must win conference battle by the Bulldogs today. Our start could not have gone better. Dominating the FO with #8/81 at the X had a lot to do with our success this afternoon. Thrilled for #6 especially early he was dialed in on the goal today."

How it Happened

  • O'Rourke got Bryant on the board at the 13:20 mark. He then assisted on a McGovern goal to make it 2-0 just 23 seconds later.
  • O'Rourke pushed Bryant's lead to 6-0 with his fourth goal of the game and the 200th point of his career.
  • The Pioneers would pot four goals but Mason Drouin scored with two seconds left in the first quarter to make it 8-4.
  • The Black and Gold then outscored the Pioneers 6-1 in the second quarter to take a 14-5 at the break. Drew Lucas scored his first-career goal and Abladian both of his goals in the second quarter.
  • Isaiah Davis and Timmy Hackett scored as part of a four-goal third quarter.
  • Tim Lacroix and CJ Sweitzer closed the scoring, notching their first goals of the season.
