Bulldogs open five game home stretch Sunday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's soccer team opens a five game home stretch when they host Howard on Sunday at 12 p.m. on the Bulldog Soccer Field. The game will also be a doubleheader with the women's team who plays at 3 p.m.

The Series

This is only the second meeting between the Bulldogs and the Bison. Last year marked the first game between the two programs which ended in a 2-1 victory for Howard. Senior George Gill (Cork, Munster, Ireland) assisted Bryant's lone goal.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • The Bulldogs are coming off their first win of the season after edging past Siena last Sunday 3-2.
  • Gill and freshman Matt Supczak (Tolland, Conn.) both scored their first career goals for Bryant on Sunday.
  • Senior Alex DaCosta (Bristol, R.I.) was the first Bulldog in DI program history to register three assists in a single game, assisting in all three of the Bryant's goals.
  • DaCosta is also ranked tied for third in the nation in assists per game with 1.33 and fifth in the nation in total assists with four. He leads the Northeast Conference in both of these statistical categories and was named an NEC Prime Performer this past week.
  • Sophomore Ben Williams (Unionville, Ontario) scored for a second game in a row, tallying his second goal of the season.
  • Williams leads the Bulldogs with five points so far this season and comes in second in the NEC. He is first in the NEC in game-winning goals with one.
  • Freshman Samuel D'Agostino (Doral, Fla.) made his first career start and appearance for the Black and Gold on Sunday.

A bit about the Bison

  • Howard enters this Sunday's matchup 0-3 on the season.
  • The Bison are yet to score a goal in their first three contests.
  • Andres Gomez leads the team with eight shots, six of which have been on target.
  • Goalkeeper Carlos Caro was named to the Sun Belt Conference Preseason All-Conference team.
  • Caro made seven saves in the team's last game against Brown on Thursday night.
