Relay success secures lead at Day 2 of Gompei Invitational

Worcester, MA –  The Bulldogs had six top-three relay finishes at day two of the Gompei Invitational.

Bryant is in first place after day 2 with a combined score of 4,173. 

Notes and Notables

  • The Bulldogs started with a second and third place finish in the mixed 200 freestyle relay. Andrew Allen (Bedford, N.H.), Alexa Rivera (Boynton Beach, Fla.), Reeta Kanervo (Oulu Finland), and FuKang Wong (Johor, Malaysia) placed second with a time of 1:30.05. Mathew Mastroianni (Glastonbury, Conn.), Lindsey Choate (Upper St. Clair, Pa.), Erin Doruska (Ankeny, Iowa), and Juan Gonzalez (Al Safa, Dubai) finished third (1:31.11).
  • The Black and Gold continued with a second place finish (49.64) by Matthew Mays (St.Croix, Virgin Islands) in the 100 Backstroke.
  • The Bulldogs picked up their first victory by Wong, who broke his own record in the 100 Breaststroke and placed first (55.01).
  • Bryant placed first and third in the mixed 400 medley relay. Mays, Wong, Elin Svärd (Falun, Sweden), and Kanervo placed first (3:35.22). Doruska, Eric Bebel (Westfield, N.K.), Dom Scifo (Ipswich, Great Britain), and Alyvia Beaudion (Cyoress, Texas) placed third (3:44.08).
  • The Bulldogs continued their relay success with a second place finish (1:22.23) in the 200 freestyle relay completed by Wong, Gonzalez, Mays, and Allen.
  • Mays, Wong, Zach Digiario (Middletown, N.J.), and Allen took first place (3:20.37) in the 400 Medley Relay.
  • In diving, Zachary Vogel (South easton, Mass.) placed second (512.40) in the three-meter dive and Trevor Hazlewood (Corpus Christi, Texas) finished third in the one-meter dive (451.75).
