Mays has strong showing in spite of loss to Marist

Poughkeepsie, N.Y.- The Bryant University men's swimming and diving team fell to by a score of Marist 191-104 on Saturday, January 25.

 

Coach Keane's Comments

"We had a solid day from both teams today in our last dual meet of the season. That's a great win from the women. Now it's time to prepare for NECs and MAACs and accomplish the goals we set."

 

Notes and Notables

  • Matthew Mays (St. Croix, Virgin Islands), Eric Bebel (Westfield, N.J.), Zach DiGiaro (Middletown, N.J.), and Juan Gozalez (Al Safa, Dubai) teamed up to finish second (1:36.32) in the 200 medley relay.
  • Bryant got its first victory of the meet from Mays in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.37.
  • The Black and Gold earned a third-place finish in the 100 breastroke by Payton Nicastro (State College, Pa.) who finished with a time of 1:03.38.
  • The Bulldogs kept the momentum going with DiGiaro placing third (1:58.28) in the 200 butterfly.
  • Fellow senior Gonzalez also finished third in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.13.
  • Mays continued his fantastic day with another win in the 200 backstroke (1:51.64).
  • In diving, Zachary Vogel (South Easton, Mass.) placed second in the one-meter dive with a score of 262.58. Fellow diver Trevor Hazlewood (Corpus Christi, Texas) earnded third-place in the one-meter (245.70) and three-meter dives (261.45).
  • Bryant ended the meet on a high note with DiGiaro finishing third in the 100 butterfly postng a time of 53.52.
