2020 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships

Smithfield, R.I. – A year after setting a program record for points, and having the best finish in program history the Bryant University men's swimming and diving team heads back to the Burt Flickinger Center in Buffalo, N.Y. to compete at the 2020 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

The Bulldogs finished second at last year's championships with a program-record of 542 total points throughout the four-day meet.

"Of course we are really looking forward to the week!!! Championship week is what we wait for all year.  The men are more than ready! They have trained hard in the pool, weight room, on the ergs, and on the bikes. Head Coach Katie Cameron Said." "We are so confident we can do big things! It will be fun being we have such a talented group representing the program. Certain all will swim fast and dive really well! Go bulldogs!!"

This week will be highlighted by sophomore FuKang Wong (Johor, Malaysia) and junior Matthew Mays (St. Croix, Virgin Islands). Wong has showcased his dominance of the breaststroke throughout the season this year and is seeded first in both the 100 and 200 breast, he also is seeded second for the 200 individual medley. Mays is coming off being named MAAC swimmer of the week for his efforts against Marist in the final meet of the regular season. Mays is seeded first in the 100 backstroke and second in the 200 back.

In Diving, sophomore Evan Clark (Doylestown, Pa.) is looking to replicate his performance from last year's championships where Clark was named the MAAC Rookie Diver of the Meet. Fellow diver Trevor Hazlewood (Corpus Christi, Texas) is returning to the site where he medaled for the first time in program history and qualified for the CSCAA National Invitational Championship. Zach Vogel (South Easton, Mass.) has been the most consistent diver for the Black and Gold this year and will take that momentum into the championships this week.

One of the Bulldog's biggest strengths this season was their relay team success. This was showcased in December during the Gompei Invitational and the Black and Gold look to continue their relay success this week at the championships. Bryant is seeded first in the 200 freestyle relay, second in the 200 and 400 medley relay, and third in the 400 freestyle relay.

The 2020 MAAC Championships will start tonight and run through Saturday at Erie Community College.
