BRYANT PLACES 65 STUDENT-ATHLETES ON NEC ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL

SOMERSET, NJ – A total of 65 Bryant University student-athletes have been named to the Northeast Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, including nine earning Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll distinction. In addition, men’s tennis junior Cristian Balestrieri (Mar Del Plata, Argentina) and women’s tennis senior Chelsea Downing (Cherry Hills Village, Colo.) were recognized as NEC Spring Scholar-Athletes for 2010.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Competing in just their second year in the Division I and eligible for individual Northeast Conference honors this spring, the Bryant University men’s tennis earned a pair of all-conference honors for 2010. The announcement was made this week by the conference office following a vote by the NEC men’s tennis coaches.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head men’s tennis coach Ron Gendron is pleased to announce the signing of four student-athletes to enroll and participate in men’s tennis in the fall of 2010. This year’s four student-athletes, Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, North Carolina), Connor Crowley (London, Ontario), Nolan Gelman (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and Christopher Corrigan (Lincoln, R.I.), will join the Bulldogs as the program prepares for its third year competing at the Division I level.

QUEENS, N.Y. – The Bryant University men’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 non-conference decision Saturday at St. John’s University. The Bulldogs were swept in the three doubles matches to open the contest and were swept in all six singles matches.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men’s tennis team opened Saturday’s match with Rhode Island College by winning the doubles point and finished strong in singles play, sweeping all six in straight sets as the Bulldogs earned a 7-0 win over the visiting Anchormen on a chilly afternoon at the Bryant Tennis Complex. The Bulldogs face Northeast Conference power Quinnipiac Sunday starting at 11 am.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Thanks to some lucky weather conditions, the Bryant University men’s tennis team pulls off a tight one against Kutztown University, which puts them at 3-0 for this spring break trip to Georgia and South Carolina. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 11-1 in spring break matches under coach Ron Gendron, several coming against nationally ranked opponents.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The combination of clay courts and spring-like temperatures has proven to be a great combination as the energetic Bryant University men’s tennis team upended George Mason 6-1 Tuesday. The Bulldogs pulled out three, third-set tiebreakers to earn the win, including a big 8-7 win at No. 1 doubles by Juan Paredes and Nicholai Hill to give Bryant the doubles point to open the match.
