Bryant picked to win seventh-straight title

SOMERSET, N.J. – The Bryant University men's tennis team was selected to finish first in the Northeast Conference in a poll of the league's seven head coaches, as announced Friday by the NEC office.

Bryant has won six-straight NEC titles, a league record, and five of the league's head coaches expect them to make it seven this spring. Fairleigh Dickinson received the final two first-place votes. Sacred Heart, Mount St. Mary's, St. Francis Brooklyn, Wagner and SFU rounded out the poll.

The Bulldogs have posted a 38-2 record in regular-season matches against NEC foes since the start of the 2010-11 season. Bryant has won 16 straight NEC matches.

Last spring, Bryant went 5-0 against league opponents before defeating Mount and Wagner 4-0 to win the NEC title.

Bryant will play its first NEC match of the season on Mar. 7 when it hosts FDU at Fore Court in Cumberland. The match is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
