Argentini shines as Bryant splits Sunday matches

CUMBERLAND, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Sunday at Fore Court, falling to St. John's, 4-1, before defeating Boston University, 4-3.

How It Happened

  • Guido Argentini (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Trent Massam (Wellington, New Zealand) opened doubles play with a victory against St. John's but the Red Storm rebounded to win at No. 1 and No. 2.
  • In singles, Argentini evened the match with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 2.
  • St. John's, however, clinched the match with a pair of three-set victories at No. 3 and No. 4.
  • Against BU, Argentini and Massam were victorious at No. 1 doubles but the Terriers won at No. 2 and No. 3 to claim the point.
  • Bryant bounced back in singles, winning at No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 to clinch the match.
  • BU went up 2-0 but Massam won at No. 3 and Nick Lorenz (Colorado Springs, Colo.) won at No. 5 to tie the match.
  • Grant Pertile (Edgartown, Mass.) made it 3-2 with a win at No. 6 and Argentini clinched the match with a victory at No. 2.
