Serra Sparrow named NEC Rookie of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University men's tennis freshman Diego Serra Sparrow was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Wednesday.

Playing his first collegiate matches, Serra Sparrow went 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles in a pair of victories over Boston University. He won his first collegiate singles match on Saturday, 7-5, 6-3. Serra Sparrow followed that up with a three-set singles win and a doubles win on Sunday.

In addition, Nick Lorenz and Andrew Pregel were named NEC Prime Performers. Lorenz won in straight sets both days, while teaming with Teague Burger to go 2-0 in doubles. Pregel also won both of his matches in straight sets and was 1-0 in doubles.
