Men's Tennis announces 21-22 schedule

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University men's tennis head coach Ron Gendron announced the 2021-22 schedule on Saturday morning.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to compete in six events during the fall before embarking on a 23-match spring season.

"I couldn't be more excited to announce our 21-22 schedule," Gendron said. "I look forward to our team competing against some of the region's best players during the fall. As for the spring, we've once again put together one of the region's toughest schedules and I look forward to the battles that come with it. This schedule will test us and I know it will prepare us as we look to win our seventh Northeast Conference title."

Bryant opens its fall season with a pair of tournaments on Sept. 25-26. Part of the team will compete at home in the Bryant Invitational, while the other half will head to Hamden, Conn., for the Quinnipiac Invitational. The first round of the ITA Regional Championships is the first weekend of October, while the second round takes place Oct. 22-25. In between, the Black and Gold will head to Middlebury, Vt., to face Middlebury and Colgate the weekend of Oct. 16-17. The Black and Gold close the fall at home with the Halloween Invitational (Oct. 30-31).

The Bulldogs will once again challenge themselves early on in the spring, traveling to Stillwater, Okla., to face Oklahoma State and Lamar (Jan. 14) to open the season. The Cowboys advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2021, while Lamar finished 11-9. Bryant's trip concludes with a matchup against an Oklahoma team that also advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last spring.

Bryant then returns to New England and travels to Hanover, N.H., for matches against Dartmouth and Binghamton (Jan. 22-23). The Black and Gold will face in-state rival Brown (Feb. 3) before heading to West Point, N.Y., to face Fairfield and Army. The Bulldogs will visit another service academy the following weekend, traveling to Annapolis to face Navy and Richomd (Feb. 11-12). Bryant concludes its matches with service academies on Feb. 18 when it faces Army and Air Force in Orlando, Fla.

The Black and Gold will then play the remainder of its schedule in New England, beginning with their first home match against Boston University on Feb. 19. Bryant will host Mount St. Mary's on Feb. 27 and then face Yale on the road on Mar. 5. Bryant also has matches scheduled with Siena (Mar. 9), Merrimack (Mar. 11 and Apr. 12), UNC Wilmington (Mar. 17), Quinnipiac (Mar. 26), Sacred Heart (Mar. 27), Fairleigh Dickinson (Apr. 4) and St. Francis Brooklyn (Apr. 19).

Bryant will then return to West Windsor, N.J., for the NEC Championships Apr. 21-24.
