Gendron adds Ortiz-Garcia to coaching staff

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University men's tennis head coach Ron Gendron is excited to announce the addition of Jorge Isaias Ortiz-Garcia '20 to the coaching staff for the 2021-22 season.

Ortiz-Garcia enjoyed an outstanding Bulldog career and will now coach the next generation of Bulldogs.

"We are excited to have Jorge back at Bryant," Gendron said. "He brings a ton of excitement and enthusiasm. As a player, he played in the Davis Cup and numerous high-level junior tournaments in the Caribbean and America. He was also a member of three championships teams here at Bryant. Vamos Perros!"

Ortiz-Garcia earned All-NEC honors in singles and doubles during his Bryant career, helping the Black and Gold win NEC Championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He won 39 singles matches during his career, graduating with the 12th-most singles victories in DI program history. Ortiz-Garcia also got the experience of a lifetime in 2018, competing for his home country Puerto Rico alongside his older brother in the Davis Cup.

In addition to his outstanding achievements as a Bulldog, Ortiz-Garcia has worked at the United States Professional Tennis Association in Orlando, at the Edgartown Yacht Club on Martha's Vineyard and at the Vineyard Family Tennis center. He is a USPTA certified tennis professional coach and holds a Leadership and Innovation degree from Bryant University.
