Bryant falls to Lamar, Oklahoma State on Friday

STILLWATER, Okla. -- The Bryant University men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches on Friday, falling to Lamar and Oklahoma State. 

Friday marked the opening of Bryant's 2022 season. The Bulldogs close their weekend on Saturday against No. 24 Oklahoma. 

Friday Recap

  • Bryant opened its day with inspired play in both doubles and singles against Lamar. The doubles point came down to a tiebreak, with Lamar winning 8-6.
  • Bryant's freshmen duo of Leonardo Mileikowsky and Marcus Macaulay were able to force the tiebreak before eventually falling. 
  • Teague Burger and Nick Lorenz were able to win in a tiebreak at No. 2 doubles. 
  • In singles, Burger picked up a straight-set victory at No. 2, 6-1, 6-3. 
  • Lorenz, Aryaan Sen and Andrew Pregel all took their matches to three sets. 
  • Against Oklahoma State, Grant Pertile and Diego Trejo fought valiantly at No. 3, falling in a tiebreak, 7-6 (7-4). 
  • Burger and Lorenz were once again a tough out, falling 6-4.
  • Trejo played a brillant match at No. 5, falling 6-4 in the first set before being outlasted in a marathon tiebreak in the second set. He fell 7-6 (15-13).
  • Mileikowsky, Macaulay and Jean-Christophe Baril made their collegiate debuts on Friday.
